Terms of use
1. What Bawaal is
Bawaal is a free party-game app: a set of prompts, word lists and timers for groups playing together on one device. It's provided for entertainment, as-is.
2. Who can use it
- Bawaal is made for adults hosting parties. If you're under 18, you may only play Sanskari or Bindaas with an adult who agrees to these terms.
- Besharam (18+) contains adult, sexual and NSFW humour across all games. Turn it on only if everyone who can see or hear the cards is 18 or older. Don't show Besharam to minors, and don't use it where it's not appropriate (work, school, family functions).
3. Daaru Mode and responsible drinking
- Daaru Mode is an optional drinking-game layer. It's only for players who are of legal drinking age in the state or country where they're playing.
- Legal drinking age in India varies by state, roughly 18 to 25. It's 18 in places like Goa; 21 in many states; 23 in Kerala; and 25 in places like Delhi and Punjab, and for spirits in Maharashtra. Alcohol is prohibited in Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram, Nagaland and Lakshadweep (with limited permit exceptions). Rules change, so check your state's current excise law. In a dry state, or when underage, don't use Daaru Mode with alcohol.
- Outside India: the legal drinking age is 21 in the United States and 18 in the United Kingdom. Follow the law where you're playing.
- Nobody has to drink. Any player can be Paani wala: water, chai, nimbu paani or any soft drink counts. Never pressure anyone.
- Sips, not chugs. Pace yourselves, eat, hydrate and stop when you've had enough. Don't play drinking games if you're pregnant, on medication that interacts with alcohol, or have a history of alcohol problems.
- Never drink and drive. Book a cab, crash on the sofa, or pick a designated driver.
- Bawaal doesn't sell, deliver or promote any alcohol brand.
4. Play safe
- Consent first. Every truth and dare is optional. "Skip" is always a valid answer, and nobody should be touched, filmed or photographed without a clear yes.
- Don't attempt dares involving vehicles, heights, fire, water bodies, sharp objects, substances or anything illegal or unsafe. If it feels risky, it's a skip.
- Don't post screenshots or videos of other players without asking them.
- Look after each other. If someone is uncomfortable, too drunk or upset, stop the game.
5. Content and references
Cards mention films, songs, shows, brands, places, sports people, politicians and other public figures as part of Indian pop culture, for parody, commentary and fun. That doesn't imply endorsement by, or affiliation with, any of them. Trademarks belong to their owners. We try to keep cards from punching down on anyone's religion, caste, region, gender, sexuality, body or skin colour. If a card crosses a line, report it and we'll review it.
6. Your responsibilities
You're responsible for how you and your group play, including choosing the right spice level for the room and following local laws. Don't misuse the app to harass or harm anyone.
7. No warranty, limited liability
Bawaal is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from playing, including from dares, drinking or content you choose to enable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under Indian law.
8. Changes and law
We may update these terms as the app grows (for example, when accounts or multi-phone rooms arrive). We'll change the effective date above and highlight big changes in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
